About us
Gosia Sobkowicz set up the company in 2014 with her husband Marcin. She has always been passionate about fragrances and she completed perfumery course at London College Of Fashion.
‘I believe that scents and fragrances enhance people’s lives and their wellbeing. We love the idea of merging natural raw materials with highly sophisticated scents, eco-friendly ingredients and unique design.’
Our scented candles are handcrafted with passion in the historic town of Kildare, Ireland. Working and experimenting with soy candles is very inspiring, therapeutic and indulging my creative side. We use up cycled wine bottles and the highest quality pure soya wax, wooden wicks, lead free cotton wicks and skin safe fragrances perfectly blended with essential oils.
Candella was awarded with Silver A'Design Awards, world's largest design award.
Soya wax
Soy beans are pressed to extract their natural oils. This oil is then hydrogenated to turn it into a wax. A natural product, soy wax is friendly to the environment and is 100% biodegradable. Since soy wax comes from the soy bean, the wax is 100% natural. Paraffin wax is a by-product of petroleum production and is not renewable. As long as we take care to maintain proper crops and fields soy is an renewable resource. Soy Candles retain their scent for the life of the candle. The fragrance does not seep out over time. They also have a large scent/fragrance "throw" which will cover a large area.

Cork oak tree
The cork oak tree, Quercus Suber, grows in Portugal and other countries which border the western edge of the Mediterranean basin.
The cork is harvested by removing the bark of the tree, every 9 to 10 year cycles. The cork tree must be approximately 25 years old, before the first extraction (virgin cork) and then nine years shall be necessary for following harvests. Fortunately the cork tree lives 180 - 200 years which allows 15 - 20 extractions.
What makes cork a unique product is it’s properties and applications.
Properties: Lightness, Elasticity, Insulation, Resistance to wear, Hypoallergenic and Fire retardant.
Applications: Interior Design, Leisure, Fashion and Technology, Building.
By purchasing and using cork products you are contributing to preserve a natural, renewable resource and important ecological environment in the western Mediterranean countries.
Candle safety
Remove all packaging and place candle on a heat resistant surface.
To ensure you get the maximum fragrance experience from your candle, let it burn for at least 2 hours at a time or until the wax is melted all the way to the glass. Do not leave your candle unattended or in reach of little ones or pets. Burn candle for no longer than 3 to 4 hours per lighting. Trim the wick down to 10mm or 1cm before each burn. Remove any mushrooming from the wick once cool. Keep a burning candle away from children, pets, and draughts.
